I’m going to start this with a nice disclaimer— my friend challenged me to write a blog with a Spice Girls title, so here I am.
“A writer is the sum of their experiences— go get some.”
This quote transcends from one of my favorite movies, Stuck in Love (favorite mainly because it’s about a family of writer’s with a bunch of problems and contains many deep quotes, see previous line).
Sometimes certain things you hear, you read, you watch— they stick with you. Sometimes they don’t.
This quote stuck (in love).
So often I find myself saying no to different opportunities because “I’m too tired,” or “I’m trying to be healthy” (okay, that’s kind of valid), or “whatever other excuse I can think of to not do it.” I hold myself back from potential relationships, friendships, and experiences daily, and often, I really don’t have a good reason.
I’m not so sure.
Maybe it’s because I think I’ll have more of these opportunities. Maybe it’s because I don’t think it’s the right time, that it will be in the future. Maybe it’s because I like making excuses more than putting myself out there every once and awhile.
I’m tired of asking myself “is it worth it?” Because the answer to that question, is yes.
It’s all worth it. It’s all an experience. It’s all a chance to learn something, to grow from others. It’s all put into your life for a reason.
It’s all worth it.
I’m not saying to do everything and anything— be responsible and true to yourself (bla bla bla), but don’t hold yourself back.
When’s the last time you made an excuse? When’s the last time you didn’t?
Spice up your life, experience life.
That’s what it’s here for, after all.
